A landslide buried 18 children at a primary school in the South-Western Chinese province of Yunnan
The landslide hit Zhenhe village in Yunnan’s Yiliang county about 8.00 a.m. the semi-official China News Service reported.
It engulfed the school building and two nearby homes in an estimated 10,000 cubic metres of debris.
Eighteen children were missing at the school and an adult was buried in one of the neighbouring homes.
Government rescue teams had reached the mountainous area, which was hit by a series of earthquakes that killed 81 people and injured some 800 people on September 7.
